Resources for Children’s Yoga

At the first National Kids Yoga Conference on September 27, we learned about many wonderful recording artists, authors and others providing support for yoga with children and providing training.

Check out this list of Resources for Children’s Yoga taken from the conference exhibitors, sponsors and speakers and organizations mentioned by speakers and exhibitors.

Alleum Yoga – A studio in Crandon, NJ with kids and family classes

Ambassador Yoga – The Ambassador Yoga Teacher Training is a yoga teacher training set at a pace that works for students or adults.

Bambino Yoga – Carolyn Clarke founded Bambino Yoga to bring yoga to the millions of children who would benefit from learning to relax their mind and imagine new worlds.

Bari Koral (Family Rock Band) – Bari’s songs are a huge hit with children and adults. Her catchy, pop friendly tunes, interactive live shows & heavy rotation radio play have gained the band literally thousands of young (and not so young!) fans.

Belightful Yoga – a mobile studio serving Southeast Michigan

Brain Gym – A non-profit organization committed to the principle that moving with intention leads to optimal learning. Through our outstanding instructors and movement-based programs, we empower all ages to reclaim the joy of living.

Calming Kids – CALMING KIDS YOGA is a NON-PROFIT organization that trains educational professionals, health care providers, yoga teachers and parents how to teach non-violence through yoga in the school systems and clinics. They help to exercise the physical body, relax and calm the mind to control anger and manage stress for a happy, healthy, peaceful child.

Checka Yoga – Checka Antifonario (E-RYT, RCYT, RCY Teacher Trainer) is a full time adult yoga instructor and children’s yoga specialist based in the greater Boston area.  She also runs Radiant Child Yoga Teacher Trainings both in the Boston area and throughout the U.S.

Chicago Kids Yoga – Events, marketing, education

Childlight Yoga – Provides numerous programs for babies, toddlers, families and children and adults, utilizing fun and innovative yoga play techniques, while providing take-home tools for managing stress and anxiety. They also offer Childlight Yoga Teacher Trainings.

The Children’s School of Yoga – Children’s yoga franchise program offering classes for children of of all ages directly in daycares and preschools, after school programs, community centers, health and fitness centers, yoga studios, camps and more (throughout NY, NJ, CT, PA and nationwide). Also offering teacher training.

Creative Kids Yoga – Teacher training program is designed for teachers, parents, therapists, yoga instructors, dance instructors, healthcare professionals, early intervention and child care providers.

DC Area Yoga – An online directory for yoga and wellness, focused on building a yoga community within the Greater DC Area. Find  yoga studios, yoga teacher trainings, workshops, retreats and yoga events in Washington DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland.

Eat Breathe Thrive – A non-profit program that aims to prevent and help individuals fully recover from disordered eating and negative body image, by offering evidence-based programs that integrate yoga, mindfulness and community support.

Gail Silver Books – Gail Silver is the author of Anh’s Anger and Steps and Stones, picture books that teach children meditation and mindfulness skills through story. The third in the series, Peace, Bugs and Understanding: An Adventure in Sibling Harmony, is forthcoming.

Get Ready to Learn – Yoga Therapy in the Classroom – a researched classroom yoga curriculum that PREPARES students of all abilities for learning. Introduced in NYC classrooms of students with special needs in 2008, the program has spread throughout the US and abroad. It is now being used daily in mainstream, integrated and classrooms of students with special needs.

Give Back Yoga Foundation – A nonprofit organization that brings the transformational benefits of yoga and mindfulness to underserved and under resourced populations

Karma Kids – New York’s only yoga studio dedicated just to kids! Yoga for babies, toddlers, kids, teens, and families. Kids Yoga Stories – books to inspire little ones to move and learn with fun, interactive, and educational yoga stories.

Kids Yogaverse – making beautiful, easy-to-use iPad apps that introduce yoga to kids through rich storytelling, fun pose instruction, and simple relaxation techniques.

Kids Wellness Alliance – (website coming soon) – producer of forthcoming Yoga Dogkids health and wellness edutainment program.

Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health –  Nonprofit educational organization dedicated to empowering people and communities to realize their full potential through the transformative wisdom and practice of yoga.  Programs at Kripalu are led by many of the world’s most accomplished teachers in yoga, self-discovery, and holistic health and are designed to provide people with tools they can apply in their daily lives. Program topics include wellness, Ayurveda, nutrition, fitness, personal growth, relationships, meditation, spiritual practice, professional training, and much more. Yoga Ed. – an educational company dedicated to changing education through the practice of yoga. Our mission is to empower school communities with yoga to cultivate health and wellness in children and teens.
