It's been 10 years since my baby was born at home in the water, a homebirth after cesarean (HBAC). I still have the Mommy Goddess tank I wore for the occasion so got it out to re-create the scene on my youngest's birthday this past weekend. The hat worn on the right was created by said 10-year-old! :-)
The dad and sibling originally behind me were directing and photographing the re-creation.My youngest has grown in 10 years.
I bought this Mommy Goddess tank in 2008 at my first half marathon. I wore it two years later to give birth and then this past Sunday to re-create the scene taken minutes after having my homebirth after cesarean (HBAC) on August 2, 2010.
I got the idea when I reached for a plain black tank in my drawer and accidentally grabbed this rarely worn one instead. Seemed like a sign to be silly, something I frequently forget to be.
I think the clothing company no longer exists, and neither does my marriage, but the posing was fun -- a pandemic birthday with parents managing to laugh together.
In 2030, I may try to enlist a more ruthless director to ensure I have the right head tilt and expression. 😊 But I think this works for now.
