The store, the 45th in a chain that started in 1975 in Asheville, North Carolina, offers an organic juice bar and salad bar, hot bar, pizza and bakery, cheese shop and meat and seafood counter in addition to stocking a full array of produce, bulk items, dry goods and wellness items. Managing allergic asthma this holiday season and beyond

Nine years ago right now, I was preparing to launch the Arlington/Alexandria chapter of Holistic Moms Network. The group has met monthly since January 2009, hosting dozens of terrific speakers on topics relevant to health and wellness, parenting and natural living. This coming January, as the chapter celebrates its ninth anniversary, the group will convene a discussion reflecting on its past and envisioning its future.

Inspiration at Achieving Optimal Health Conference

Being mindful doesn’t mean you always have good days. It means when things are rough, you remember to breathe because you’ve practiced it. And when tears come, you don’t judge them. You just be with your feelings in the moment, notice your thoughts, tell yourself you are not the same as them, and call on wisdom you’ve read or heard or cultivated on your yoga mat. This can still look messy, don’t get me wrong. But as long as there is openness to believing there is something to be gained, even from pain, there is possibility. Even though I got there late, I found inspiration at the Achieving Optimal Health Conference.
